- Senior Ladies - Memorial League, Round 2 Castlebar Mitchells B vs Kilmeena.
Kilmeena travelled to Castlebar on Saturday evening (12th April), for the first Senior competitive match of the 2025 season. The ladies in black & white began with pace and intent but struggled to make their efforts count on the scoreboard in the early stages. After 7 minutes Kilmeena landed the first score of the game from a free. From there to the half time whistle, the Kilmeena Ladies dominated for long periods, winning the lions share of their own kick-outs and a sizeable number of the Mitchells' kick-outs too. This provided the platform for some good attacking play and produced a return of 2 - 07 for Kilmeena, at the short whistle. Mitchells were limited to 3 points in the opening 30 minutes. The second half was less fluid and a somewhat tighter affair. Kilmeena continued to work hard but with an element of fatigue creeping into their play, the pace of the contest slowed. Now operating with reduced possession, Kilmeena found themselves on the back foot for periods, particularly during the final 15 minutes. And whilst the scores dried up, Kilmeena defended heroically, limiting Mitchells to a total of 4 points in the second half. They also kept the scoreboard ticking over with a return of 1 - 03. Tougher assignments lie ahead but this was a satisfactory outcome for the Kilmeena Senior Ladies, in their first match of the season - a win borne out of a combination of good individual displays and effective teamwork, throughout the pitch. Kilmeena 3 - 10, Castlebar Mitchells B, 0 -7 Team; Ellie Mae Keane, Julie O'Grady, Laura O'Grady, Sarah Mulchrone, Sheila Bohan, Aoife Gannon, Sinead Hughes, Siofra Hughes, Eabha Carney, Laura Kelly, Ciara Joyce, Aine Gallagher, Rachel Gibbons, Lisa Hastings, Lucy O'Malley. Subs; Mags Ryder for Rachel Gibbons, Rachel Keane for Ciara Joyce. Scorers; E Carney 0 - 5 (3f), L O'Malley 0 - 1, L Hastings 1 - 1, A Gallagher 0 - 2, C Joyce 1 - 1, R Gibbons 1 - 0.

- Kilmeena vs Swinford - Homeland Minor League Div 4
We played our second game of the Season away to Swinford on Thursday 1st April on a fabulous spring evening ! We were definitely the stronger team in the first half despite playing against the breeze and led 1-9 to 1-6 at the break. We had a good start to the second half and increased our lead to five point before Swinford had their period of dominance in the final quarter. An entertaining and competitive game ended level at 2-13 each. While disappointed not come away with a victory, despite having lead for most of the game , we could well have been defeated we're it not for the heroics of Louie in goal near the end.
