- “Day of Play” a huge success.
Kilmeena GAA would like to express sincere thanks to all those who came out in numbers today to support our club fundraising events. Well done to all the Boys and Girls, Men and Ladies team events from under 6’s right up to the Juniors who all played their part in this fundraising initiative. Thanks indeed to all those who brought along sandwiches, buns, cakes, biscuits and tarts and to the ladies who worked tirelessly in the Clubhouse to ensure everybody was well looked after. Special mention must go to the Minor and Junior Ladies who completed a 24hr Cycle- A-Thon from 2:00pm on Saturday the 3rd to 2:00 pm today, Sunday the 4th of November. Check out the Kilmeena Ladies facebook page for details and photos of all the people who got their feet on the pedals for this tough 24hr assignment. All monies raised will go towards the ongoing development of the Club grounds. If you were not in a position to return your sponsorship cards today we would appreciate if you could return them to your teams manager or any of the club officers in the coming days. The Minor and Junior Ladies teams got their 24 hour Cycle-A-Thon fundraiser off to a flying start at the Kilmeena GAA pitch at 2pm this afternoon. Setting the pace were; Chloe McGing and Susannah Horgan, from 2pm - 3pm today...so get down to the pitch today and show your support for the girls. Firing the gun! (metaphorically) John McDonald gets the Cycle-A-Thon underway at 2pm today... Chloe, Katie and Susannah get warmed up for the event... Susannah - all ready for the off! Expecting a "fun hour" - Chloe gets ready... A lot of miles to go! Providing moral support...
- Family Fun "Day of Play" Sunday 4th November 2018.
Kilmeena GAA club invite you to attend their “Day of Play” Fundraiser this Sunday the 4th November from 12:30 to 4:00 pm. There will be light refreshments served on the day and all donations will be greatly appreciated. Activities will commence at 12:30 with the National School Kids Winter League. The football Finals should be completed by 2:00 pm. The skills tests will follow in parallel with the other team events taking place as outlined below. Boys; U-6/8, Parents and boys to kick 500 points – to start from approx. 1:00 pm. U-10, Fun obstacle course for parent and child – to start from approx. 2:00 pm. U-12, Penalty kicks and kicking footballs through Tyre targets to start from approx. 2:00 pm. U-14, Family Fun table quiz to be held on Thursday night 8th November. U-16, Held a Pool & Darts competition with silent auction on Saturday the 27th October. Minor & Junior teams are performing a 26-mile Solo-A-thon on Sunday the 4th November. Girls; U-6/8/10, Fun skills and drills games. U-12, Kick ball into a “spot prize” square. U-14, To be determined. U-16, Fund raising Disco on Friday night the 2nd November. Minor & Junior Ladies teams are holding a 24hr cycle-A-thon from Saturday 3rd to Sunday the 4th November finishing at 2:00 pm.

We appeal to everyone to make a final push to sell as many lines as possible before the cards are due back. Remember your efforts are for the club and ultimately you! Each team in each age category, both boys and girls teams, will endeavour to raise funds for the club by selling lines on sponsorship cards for their novel fundraising activities. The activities will be agreed by players and management of each team. The activities on the day will be varied and will be, above all else, fun - actual football may or may not be even played! It will be driven by each team and should only involve a hour or so of your time.
- MYNA GIRLS WIN MINI 7s
Congratulations to the 5th & 6th class girls from Myna NS who claimed a historic first West Mayo Mini 7's title on Friday 21st September 2018. The blitz was held at Kilmeena GAA grounds so you could say these girls had home advantage on a very windy day. In the qualifying round they played teams from Scoil Padraig, Lankill and Cornanool, coming out top of the group with 3 wins from 3 games. In the semi final they played their neighbours and last year's winners Newport NS. The victory was Myna's this time round with a scoreline of 4-3 to 1-1. Gaelscoil Na Cruaiche were the opposition for the final and the Myna girls displayed a great team effort to claim the title. Final score 4-1 to 2-3. They were cheered on all day by their classmates and Ms Kitterick. Mr Carney was absent and had to rely on texts and phone calls whilst concentrating at a conference. The team members were Patricia Moore, Laura O'Grady, Aoife Walshe, Lisa Hastings, Katie Moran, Amy Carney, Emma Barrett, Kayleigh Muldoon and Ruby McDonnell. Absent: Siofra Hughes.
- Kilmeena Proud to Host LGFA Senior Club County Final.
Kilmeena GAA Club were honored to host the 2018 LGFA Senior Club County Final this afternoon, Sunday the 21st October between Carnacon and Knockmore. Huge thanks to all our club members who turned out in great numbers to help ensure things ran smoothly on the day. Congratulations to Carnacon on their County Title. Commiserations to Knockmore who battled right to the end and never gave up. Click here for images from the day.
- County title for Kilmeena Minors
Kilmeena minors travelled to Claremorris today, Sunday the 14th October to play against Ballinrobe in the County League Division 3 Final. It was only after extra time that Kilmeena emerged victorious on a Final score line of Kilmeena 0-22 to Ballinrobe 3- 10. Image of match report from Austin Garvin of the Mayo News below. Hard luck to our minor girls who were defeated by Kiltimagh today in Ballyheane. We are so proud of each and everyone of our girls and to all our younger ladies who made themselves available for today's game. There will be better days for this wonderful group of footballers. - Kilmeena U-13's crowned Division 2, County League Champions
Congratulations to the Kilmeena U-13 boys’ team and Management who were crowned Division 2 County League Champions yesterday the 6th of October after a 5-08 to 1-09 win over Erris St. Pat’s. The game was played in Knockmore in ideal conditions for football with both teams putting on a great display of their football skills. Full match report to follow. - National Role for Daniel Kelly
Kilmeena GAA would like to congratulate our club under 13 player Daniel Kelly who was recently given the prestigious honour to Captain the FAI National Emerging Talent squad which played in the Actavo Cup on the weekend of the 14th -16th September last. This event was hosted by Cherry Orchard FC located in Ballyfermot, Dublin. Daniel’s team played against squads from non-other than Glasgow Celtic, Newcastle Utd, St Patrick’s Athletic and Swansea city. Liverpool, Aberdeen and host club Cherry Orchard also took part in this competition. Here are some photos from the weekend.
