Congrats to our Junior ladies led by Captain Ciara Joyce on winning the Martin Jamesy Memorial cup 🏆 It was an All Islands affair with the girls playing against @clareislandgaa and @rogercasementsgaa from Coventry in England 🏁🏁 The girls won both games and went on to win the final against @rogercasementsgaa 👏🏁 All the girls had a great day out on the island and this wouldn’t have been possible without their manager John O’Grady organising the trip. All at Kilmeena Lgfa would like to thank @clareislandgaa for hosting us and @clareislandcommunitycentre for some well needed food and drinks after the game 👏👏 We all would like to wish Ciara Joyce the very best of luck on her new adventure and she will be missed greatly by all her teammates. Ciara has played with our ladies club since her underage days and has always worn the jersey with pride. We hope to see Ciara back playing in the black and white soon 🤍🖤 We will see you all in Clare Island next year and hopefully we will be bringing the cup home with us again 🏆

Shrule/Glencorrib visited Kilmeena for our final U16 Boys Championship Group 2 game. It was a tough evening for the visitors who quickly fell behind after a flurry of scores from the home team. In a physical game, tempers were rising on the pitch and on the sideline but despite missing plenty of chances, Kilmeena led by 10 points at half time. The boys played into the wind in the second half and were encouraged to keep the ball in hand, which they did admirably, and controlled the entirety of the second half with some really outstanding play at times For every shot missed in the first half, almost every attempt seemed to result in a score in the second. Score after score followed and Shrule/Glencorrib were relieved when the final whistle blew. A scarcely believable 25 point difference separated the teams in the end. The final score was Kilmeena 6-13 Shrule/Glencorrib 1-3. Having been on the receiving end of a couple of thrashings ourselves this season, It was one of those rare evenings when everything went our way. We were left wondering what might have been had we not conceded the score in the final play of the game against Louisbugh last week.  Next up for us, a Shield semi-final against Burrishoole in Kilmeena on Thursday 29th August. In celebrating 50 years of the lgfa. We look back to 2013 when the Kilmeena ladies took over Croke Park. Who would have thought back in February 2013 when it was decided to set up a ladies football club in Kilmeena that we would end up playing in Croke Park representing our club and County. Well, on Monday July 15th, 2013 was a very proud and historic day for all involved with Kilmeena Ladies GAA Club. 30 girls with their management, mentors and some parents departed from Kilmeena GAA grounds for a trip of a life time to Croke Park to participate in the Gaelic 4 Girls National Blitz day. Over 1000 girls from all over Ireland took part in this blitz. Our Ladies Club fielded two teams of ten with five subs on each. The girls got a chance to show case their talents and were quick to find the cross bar while others were not so shy in lobbing the ball in the back of the net. All the girls put in a huge performance on the day and represented their club so well. They also got a chance to meet and greet some of the stars associated with ladies football and the county stars presented the girls with a specially designed medal to mark this great occasion. It was a most memorable day and a great honour for our Club and Huge tribute must be paid to the Managers and all involved with the ladies club for all their hard work and commitment. Many thanks to Martin McIntyre for keeping all these pictures throughout the years. We are very grateful.
