  • Kilmeena V Kiltimagh Junior ladies Relegation Playoff 2023-10-22

On Sunday 22nd, Oct the Junior ladies played their final game of the 2023 season in a Junior A relegation battle against Kiltimagh. The first half was a very even contest, with both teams well-matched and not giving an inch. Eabha Carney got the scoreboard ticking with a point before Lisa Hastings hit two more, one either side of a stunning long-range goal from Aoife Gannon. However, Kiltimagh were always dangerous, and just before the half-time whistle rattled the Kilmeena net to go one point ahead, 1 - 04 to 1 - 03. The Kilmeena ladies refocused their efforts at the half-time interval and came out playing with a renewed vigour. The Kilmeena ladies were first to every ball, not giving Kiltimagh a chance to settle. When Kiltimagh attacked, the Kilmeena defence was solid and very difficult to penetrate. Kilmeena outscored their opponents by 3 - 09 to 1 - 02 in the second half. A special mention must go to super sub - Mags Ryder, who got the loudest cheer from the sideline after scoring a point from a free. The final score was 4 - 12 to 2 - 06, and the Kilmeena ladies secured Junior A status for 2024. Match report; Peter Mortimer. Kilmeena 4 - 12 2 - 6 Kiltimagh more...

  • U15s lay down a marker

A wonderful team performance on a soft pitch ensured both points for Kilmeena in their U15 Group C away to Knockmore. A flurry of early goals and points as a result of excellent defensive work combined with snappy link-up play, quality ball delivered into the forward line and crisp finishing, meant that at half time the score was Knockmore 0-2, Kilmeena 6-05. The second half was more even with both teams trading scores but Kilmeena simply had too much for a shell-shocked Knockmore. The match finished Knockmore 1-10, Kilmeena 7-08. This result means that we have given ourselves a fighting chance of progressing to the knockout stages if we can produce a similar performance at home to Carras, who have won both of their fixtures, next Thursday week, 19th October. • Kilmeena through to the Egan Jewellers' Intermediate championship Semi Final

A semi final awaits Kilmeena as they overcame Parke in difficult playing conditions. The game started in Parke's favour finding the first score in a misty Tourmakeady. Kilmeena responded and with the first quarter over there was a point between them. Kilmeena finished the half strong through a John McGlynn goal. The first half concluded on a scoreline of 1 - 06 to 0 - 03 in favour of Kilmeena. The men from the shores of Clew Bay started the second half like they finished the first but Parke fought to the end, hitting a purple patch coming down the home straight with a goal and three points to leave the minimun between the teams. Darragh Keaveneys well executed free put two points between them again and saw Kilmeena through to the semi final on a scoreline of Kilmeena 1 - 11 Parke 1 - 09 More photos here....
