U13s fall short in topsy-turvy game against Parke/Keelogues/Crimlin

Kilmeena 6 - 07 8 - 9 Parke/Keelogues/Crimlin

In conditions ideal for football in sunny Kilmeena on Thursday evening, our U13s gave their all but unfortunately couldn’t overcome Parke/Keelogues/Crimlin in what proved to be a proverbial game of two halves. In the first, Kilmeena, playing against the wind, netted two quick goals but Parke/Keelogues/Crimlin then got into their stride and chalked up six goals and seven points of their own. In the third quarter Kilmeena outpointed the opposition but were still way behind going into the final quarter. Piling pressure on the Parke/Keelogues/Crimlin kick-out, Kilmeena scored another three goals and seven points - our only points of the game. Our boys tend to love the final quarter of games - the vast majority of our scores during this campaign have come in the final quarter. The challenge for the coaches is to get them scoring more in the other quarters!

We saw some great performances all over the pitch and it’s fair to say they gave everything they had. It was great to see so many smiling faces coming off the pitch at the end as sometimes we forget that the whole point of sport, in general, is to enjoy it!
