Kilmeena V Castlebar West Mayo Minor A C/Ship Round 1 2020-07-24

Kilmeena 0 - 3 9 - 17 Castlebar Mitchells

This was Kilmeena Minor’s first competitive fixture of 2020. Having been grouped in with the senior clubs of Castlebar, Westport, Ballintubber and Breaffy, any game in this division would never be ‘a walk in the park’.

Pairc Josie Munnelly (the venue for this game) on a damp dreary grey July evening will not conjure up many (if any) fond on-field memories for the Kilmeena Minors or their mentors or indeed the few hardy Kilmeena supporters that travelled to the Mitchells venue, when they look back on this game.

Kilmeena were simply outclassed by a fitter, stronger and collectively more skilful opponent this evening and the final scoreline merely reflects that. Whilst the Kilmeena lads gave everything they had; it was no match for the Mitchells this evening.

There were some good individual performances on-field for Kilmeena, but many will know that they could and can do better. This group will bounce back. The only way is up!

The panel present this evening comprised of the following:

Darragh Slattery, Harry Sheridan, Adam Sheridan, Tom Smythe, Oisin Grimley, Ronan O’Donnell, Chris McGlynn, Mikey Hastings, Kian Moore, Ian Murphy, Cillian O’Grady, Mark Hastings, Robbie Staunton, Chris McNally, Jason McGlynn, Ciaran Kilcoyne, Daniel O’Malley, Rory Nolan & Liam Moore.

Match report;

Michael O'Grady
