Kilmeen U14 girls made the long trip to Moygowanagh on Friday evening, August 24th, to take on Belmullet in the county C final. Despite a slow start by the Kilmeena girls the game developed into an enthralling encounter between two evenly matched sides. Leading by 9 points at half time Belmullet must have thought they were home and dry but it was a very determined Kilmeena team that reemerged for the second half. Two goals from Kilmeena in quick succession left the competition wide open and the two teams fought diligently to the final whistle. The game ended in a two point victory for Belmullet despite the valiant efforts of a never say die Kilmeena side.
