The Kilmeena U14 girls got their championship off to a blistering start, at home, with a thrilling encounter with Moy Davitts on Friday August 10th. The game proved to be a very tightly fought contest with each side matching each others scores in the first half, leaving the difference between the teams at just a single point, in Kilmeena's favour, at half time.
With Moy Davitts getting off to a great start in the second half, quickly getting two goals, the Kilmeena girls had to dig deep and fight back which they did admirably. A penalty for Kilmeena with five minutes left to play proved to be the fatal blow to Moy Davitts and even thought they fought back gallantly, scoring a point, it wasn't enough against a very determined Kilmeena side. This panel of players have shown great commitment and dedication in what is turning out to be a long season for them as they now go on to the semi-finals of the championship as well as the semi-finals of the league.
