The first half was an intense and bruising affair as both teams tried to take control of the game. Playing against a very stiff breeze Kilmeena battled bravely to keep in touch with a fit and physical Davitts side. The half time whistle was welcomed by both sides as the game was played in very humid conditions. Davitts to their credit held a commanding lead at the half time interval. Kilmeena started the second half brightly with some stylish attacking play. Kilmeena to their credit picked off some nice scores during the second period. Some brave defending led to a series of expansive counter attacking play that any senior ladies team would be proud of. The whole team dug deep but unfortunately it wasn’t to be their day. The mental strength of this Kilmeena team is to be admired as they never gave up and fought to the bitter end. It was a historical day for many of the ladies as they were making their debut for the Parish. Considering the result, this group will improve and prosper as the season goes on. It’s early days in the formation of this team but signs are positive for a bright future.
