Sunday 6th February 2022 will go down in Kilmeena GAA history, not just for our victorious Senior team in the All-Ireland Junior Club Final but also for our U12s who had the honour of representing their club in the “Give Respect, Get Respect” mini-game at half time against Gneeveguilla of Kerry. Before the game, the boys lined up in their jerseys outside the main entrance of the stadium for a photo.
Thankfully, every one of our lads got a chance to play on the hallowed turf of Croke Park. This event could not have happened without the behind-the-scenes efforts of Liam McDonnell, to whom we are eternally grateful. Thanks also to the Croke Park officials who supplied refreshments and match programmes.
After the mini-game, we could all relax (if that’s the word!) and enjoy the rest of the main event. Following the Seniors’ triumph, we all returned to St. Brendan’s Park in Kilmeena to welcome home our All-Ireland champions. A perfect end to a perfect day.
Míle buíochas - arís - do Ollie Mulchrone as na grianghraif iontacha.
