Positive Sidelines

Dear Club Children's Officer,
I hope this email finds you well.
As our underage competitions continue, I ask all clubs to remind coaches, parents, guardians and supporters of the behaviour expected at our games.
A good sideline atmosphere is an important part of the GAA. Supporting your club and encouraging players add to the enjoyment and we do not want to lose that.
However, it is important that everyone knows where the line is.
In particular:
Referees deserve respect at all times. Abusive dissent is not acceptable.
Adults engaging negatively with underage players, supporters or members from the sideline is unacceptable.
Coaches, mentors, parents and supporters should lead by example and help create a positive environment for all children taking part.
Encourage, support and enjoy the game, but always be respectful of players, officials and fellow supporters.
The vast majority of people attending our games do exactly that, and we thank them for it. This is simply a reminder that respect should always come first.
We would also like to remind clubs that Silent Sidelines are in place for all ages ups to and including U14s. This initiative allows players to learn, play and make decisions for themselves in a positive environment.
Attached is the Maintaining Good Practice and Behaviour booklet. This document outlines the standards of behaviour that we expect from all those involved in our games and provides useful guidance on creating a positive and respectful environment for our young players.
Can all clubs please share this message, along with the attached booklet, with coaches, mentors, parents and supporters within your club.
Is mise le meas
