Kilmeena U13s bag three points in epic encounter

Kilmeena U13s secured their first three points of the season in an amazing match against Shrule/Glencorrib on a beautiful, sunny evening in Kilmeena. In the opening five minutes, Shrule/Glencorrib blew us away. We suddenly found ourselves eight points down. Shellshocked, we struggled to regain our composure, and things didn’t augur well for the rest of the game. However, our boys chipped away at Shrule/Glencorrib’s lead, and amazingly we found ourselves a mere three points down at halftime.

After a constructive team talk at halftime, our boys knuckled down and excelled at the basics. Our defence was watertight and prevented the opposition from registering a single score in the second half. Every one of our players seemed energised by the example set by our backs. We started playing some beautiful football out from the back, through the midfield and into our forwards, who proved too powerful for their defence.

In the end, it was a thirteen point win - an incredible turnaround. These boys proved that anything is possible with their skill, application and desire, and any hurdle can be overcome. As coaches, we are so incredibly proud of them.

We look forward to our next encounter, away to Carras, next Thursday.

Match report:

Barry Murphy.

Kilmeena 6 - 9 4 - 2 Shrule/Glencorrib
