Kilmeena: 3 - 08     Shrule Glencorrib: 1 – 04

A good away win for the Kilmeena Adult Ladies team.

Kilmeena made the journey to Shrule Community Sports Field on Friday evening 8th May for this refixed third round of the Adult League.

As was the case the previous weekend against Claremorris B, Kilmeena were without a number of regular players.

Notwithstanding this, the ladies in black & white started the contest with intent and urgency, perhaps displaying too much of the latter in the opening quarter, by failing to capitalise on scoring opportunities created. Defensively, Kilmeena were very solid during the opening half of this game. Ultimately, the visitors did get their attack play on target and registered 2 – 04 to Shrule Glencorrib’s 1 – 01 at the small whistle.

Shrule Glencorrib began the second half brightly with a couple of points, to reduce the Kilmeena lead to four points, ten minutes in. However, from there to the end of the contestKilmeena played their best attacking football of the evening, with some fine runs, support play and finishing. Kilmeena’s increased fitness was a contributory factor in delivering a strong finish to the game by the visitors.

Whilst there were many good individual performances, this win was achieved by a collective team effort and hard work on the field.
